Jack Balkin’s great group blawg Balkinization is banned in China. Jack’s in China and reports on the blawgs he can reach, which includes my BusinessAssociationsBlog.com. But how about the portal site (ProfessorBainbridge.com), the wine blog (ProfessorBainbridgeOnWine.com), or, most likely to be banned, the punditry blog (StephenBainbridge.com)? Inquiring minds want to know.
Prof. Bainbridge, sitting in north China I can tell you none of your blog URLs seem to be banned in China, though individual posts may be banned for verboten words. Also, your RSS feed is banned because all Feedburner URLs are banned here. Note that the ban on Balkin’s blog has nothing to do with Balkin at all, but rather reflects a blanket ban on Blogspot blogs in China, and I think Balkin should’ve Googled for information before writing his post.
Matthew: Many thanks! Are you enjoying China?
Things are good, aside from the pollution. I only wish the Chinese government spent half as much time cleaning the air as they do “cleaning” the Internet.

I am not surprised really, isn’t Jack Balkin already banned at Hugh Hewitt and Townhall.com? I mean seriously, you cannot be a real Republican anymore unless you are pro waterboarding and torture. John McCain gets vilified for his wussy abhorence for it all the time over there.
The Geneva Conventions prohibitions against torture are not real laws (well they are in fact real laws ratified by Congress), but not really really real--like something Dick Cheney whispers in an assistant’s ear (like George W. Bush’s).
