Football Blues

As I settle in for another Sunday with the NFL, I'm feeling more than a little disgruntled. My beloved Washington Redskins are (a) still owned by Dan Snyder, (b) playing an unproven QB, and (c) out of the hunt again. Meanwhile, the loathsome Dallas Cowboys are resurgent and, worse yet, appear to have found a QB of the future. I don't like the new Fox NFL Sunday format - what do a bunch of drunk fans yelling in the background add? Plus, James Brown was a much better moderator than Joe Buck. Grump, grump, grump....

I agree.  Joe Buck is a stepdown.  I share the blues as well.  Coming out on the losing end of Vince Young’s coming out party, aka massive big blue collapse.  Ouch, heads should roll.  Hated Cowboys are getting the division handed to them.

Yes, Jason Campbell is unproven.  Yet I’m liking what I’ve seen of him much more than I liked what I saw of Mark Brunell this season.  It’s too early to know what he’ll be like, but Campbell looks like he could be a flagship QB.

Mr. Bainbridge,

Go to FootballOutsiders.com.  They have a quarterback projection system that says that Jason Campbell will be a great quarterback.  The projection system is at least accurate enough to sift out all of the busts (i.e. Ryan Leaf was projected to stink, Peyton was projected to be great, and the feather in the cap for this year, Philip Rivers was projected to be great).

So, the future is bright.  Except for the whole owner thing.  I can’t help you there.

Take care,
chris
