Last week’s disastrous performance by my fantasy teams was offset by a historic Redskins win over Philadelphia. This week, it’s the other way around. The Redskins came back to earth with a thud, sending all of us in Skins-land into the pits of despair. How do you lose to the Rams at home?
OTOH, all of my fantasy teams did well. The Bruinskins rolled to a 124 to 46 win behind huge performances by Drew Brees and Maurice Jones-Drew. The LA Redskins remain in 4th place in the PB.com league, although Adler’s Eagles are opening up quite a lead over the rest of us. Finally, my Redbruins are holding a 77-64 lead going into Monday night’s game. I’ve got Eli Manning in that one, while the opposition has just John Carney. I’m reasonably confident I can put this one in the win column. Big games from Marion Barber, Steve Breaston, and Vincent Jackson in the late games made up for a slow start Sunday morning.
In other football news, let us indulge in a bit of schadenfreude. When I was growing up, my good Christian mother taught me never to hate anyone or wish them ill. When I got old enough to form a lasting football allegiance, however, I insisted on a renegotiation of the deal that allowed me one exception; namely, the Dallas Cowboys. And what a good week is was for those of us who loathe the Pokes. They not only lose a heart breaker, but Felix Jones got dinged and Tony Romo may be out for as much as 4 weeks. Huzzah! Adding to my happiness at these splendid developments is the suggestion by some “experts” that Marion Barber will benefit by virtue of an expanded running game, the absence of Jones, and Brad Johnson’s tendency to check down to his running backs. Since I held my nose and drafted Barber in my Yahoo public league, my fantasy football should benefit just as much as my real world football interests.
