I can’t believe HBO dropped Inside the NFL. It’s only the best sports show on television. Sure, you can get a football weekend wrap up faster elsewhere, but no show combined the excellence of 4 intelligent, funny, and knowledgeable analysts, the inside reporting of Peter King, the fascinating feature stories, and the brilliance of NFL Films. It must be saved!
I suspect the NFL Network will pick it up. It’s a natural for them and they’d be able to justify airing it more than three times a week.
I liked the show better in the Len Dawson-Nick Nick Buoniconti era but it’s still good. Costas and Collingsworth are excellent, Marino is a little stiff but a sharp analyst, and Carter is amusing because he’s so bad.
I do hope that NFL Network will pick up ITN. It’s an all too rare thing -> an insightful, intelligent sports program. Granted, I could do without Peter King’s incessant name-dropping, but hey, nothing’s perfect.

Professor,
Never fear. While ITN won’t be on HBO anymore, NFL films will keep producing it. It will just be on another network.
