Congrats to BYU

My friend Gordon Smith is deservedly pleased that BYU squeaked past a UCLA team fielding its fourth string (and walk on) quarterback playing for an interim coach. Maybe I’m just feeling a little grumpier than usual, but it wasn’t exactly a win that would persuade an agnostic to believe in divine intervention. Anyway, congratulations to BYU for finally beating UCLA for the first time in 24 years and raising their record against my beloved Bruins to a whopping 2-7. Grumble. grumble, grumble ....

UCLA was incredible on defense. That Davis guy is an animal and BYU lucked out with that last play. Great game, though. In full disclosure, I grew up in Provo and bleed blue. Probably the only Jack-Mormon fan they have.
