Early Romney Skepticism

In an earlier post today, I noted that flip-flopper Mitt Romney would not receive my support (FWIW). In that regard, I note a 7/2005 post in which I observed of Romney that:

I am deeply suspicious of politicians whose views on abortion, stem cells, and the rest of the culture of life issues "evolve" just in time for them to run for higher office. Even when they claim to have come around to my side.

I was right back then and I think I'm still right now.

You needn’t worry, since he’s not going to win the nomination.  There’s no way the Dobson wing of the party will support a Mormon and he won’t be getting any significant support from any other wing of the party.

Perhaps I’m being overly negative, but so far the candidates for both parties are, well, lightweights (?).

Difficult to be optimistic.
