Jets cut Chatman

The Star-Ledger is reporting that:

In a stunning move, the Jets released veteran RB Jesse Chatman, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on Thursday night against the Eagles and led the team in rushing this preseason with 164 yards and a touchdown on 51 carries, according to someone with knowledge of the cuts. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the cuts aren’t officially announced until Saturday.

If true, this is very good news for yours truly. In the inaugural season of the PB.com fantasy football league, I’ve got the New York Jets’ Thomas Jones as my RB-2. I was worried that Chatman would cut into Jones’ red zone carries. so his release suggests that I can count on Jones to produce significantly more TDs this year.

Chatman apparently failed a steroids test, he’s got a four game suspension to boot.
