The only other time I can remember feeling this way was during the ‘70’s and the disco craze. Everybody really was crazy about disco dancing, the music, the scene etc. I didn’t get it. I hated the music, I thought the dancing was stupid and I couldn’t do it anyway (terrible dancer me), and I didn’t like the clothes either. It was like, is everybody crazy or is it just me?
Same with Obama. I don’t get the appeal. I can see that he is good looking, bright for a politician, I understand the historic black President thing, but overall it just seems so obvious that he is just the guy who started plotting in junior high how he was going to be the Governor of Boys’ State, or whatever. Only now it’s on a global scale. It’s very weird. I had thought media and celebrity driven politics had bottomed out, but apparently not.
Obama has the personality and mind of a leader. He is an excellent speaker and knows when and what to talk for most of the time. Love him or hate him, seems like the time is on his side.
Obama’s a good speaker? This idea needs to die. He’s a good TelePrompTer reader when he gets into his preacher-man voice. Off-the-cuff he’s a debacle, worse than Bush.
Good-looking? Eye of the beholder, but:
-Mole
-Ears
-Weird-shaped head
Do you really want to go there? Lessee, Obama is to Disco as McCain is to the Twist...timeframe-wise.
There’s no way that McCain could do the twist without breaking a hip.
My guess is the OBAMAMESSIAH can’t dance.
OMG!
Funny stuff - here’s a guy who basically admits that he’s a dweeb, never been “hip” and admits that he was crazy ("It was like, is everybody crazy or is it just me?") and we’re supposed to give credence to his political opinions?
Sounds just like Prof. Bainbridge…
It isn’t so much that Obama is clearly presidential. Rather, it’s that McCain is clearly not presidential.

That’s pretty much it right there. The only reason why Barack Obama has gotten this far is because he’s black. “
You play right into their hands by making such an incredibly naive, inflammatory, and shockingly wrong statement. I don’t agree with his politics, myself, and will likely vote AGAINST him as a result; but you must acknowledge that he is a great speaker and has the sort of magical charisma that I wish would return to the Republicans.
Also, please note that he is “white,” too, and not just in the slightly ironic but insignificant way in which Hitler was part-Jewish. His mother is white, making him half-white. Why is anyone with an ounce of black heredity considered all-black? Doesn’t that fit shockingly into white supremicists’ misguided notions that “black blood” is impure and corrupts the white race line? Moreover, could you now say that the only reason he is successful as a “black” politician is because he is actually half-white?
This discussion just makes it all that more clear how confusing playing the race card actually is. Just stop it, on both sides.
