Sorry for your loss. Losing a pet (especially one you’ve had since it was a puppy) is always hard.

My condolences--he was beautiful and I always loved the pictures and posts mentioning Sam. There is no friend like a dog…

Sorry for your loss.  Sam was a beautiful dog.  Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures.

Sincerest condolences on your loss. A dog is truly a man’s best friend; no matter how loving we are, we can never reciprocate their love for us.

My condolences.  As a dog owner I empathize with your loss - it makes me sad just knowing that some day the same thing will happen to our dog.

My condolences on your loss. It’s good to know that he enjoyed a loving home with you while he was here…

Very sorry.  I cried like a baby when my last dog died four years ago.

PB - Bummer… I received some good advice once.  Wait awhile before you get another (if you do).

Very sorry to hear about your loss.  Sam seemed to be a great pal.

Our canine friends certainly lighten our days and the loss of one is as deep as the loss of any family member. My condolences on your loss.

Very sorry to hear that.  Sad to think of Toby all alone.

I disagree with about just about everything, but I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

He was a beautiful dog.

I’m sorry to hear of Sam’s death.  I’m glad, though, that he had a long life for a big dog, and was able to bring so much into your own life.

I’m very sorry to hear it.  I know your dogs meant a lot to you.

A very cute dog, especially in the upper left picture.  I wish dogs had longer life spans.

I’m so sorry to hear about Sam.  We lost our golden, Kenya, to cancer two months ago.  It leaves a great big hole in your heart and your home.

Professor,
Just know that you gave him a good doggy life and that he knew it.

This isn’t really intended for publication since it can be construed as a commercial plug.  As I said in my previous post, we lost our golden to cancer in July.  We had a bronze plaque made from a photo of her and are quite pleased with the result.  http://www.4everinmyheart.com/ I only mention it because of the beautiful photos of Sam.

I’m not affiliated with the company in any way; just happy with their product and service.

Someone once pointed out that perfectly useless creatures like turtles live for a hundred years but warm, friendly, intelligent dogs are with us for but a brief time.  Tonight I raise my glass to the memory of your beloved canine and take a moment to give my own two dogs a bit of extra attention.

My thoughts are with you and your family this weekend.

I’m very sorry to hear about losing Sam.  You have my sympathies.

Deepest sympathy on your loss, though fifteen years is a greater gift than many canines can give us.  That makes it easier, and harder, all at the same time.  Best to Toby, as well.

I am very sorry for your loss.  Lossing such a wonderful companion like that can really tear your heart as Kipling noted.

My condolences on your loss.

Please accept my condolences.  “He was a good dog” is the highest complement you can pay our four legged canine friends.  And from all your clearly loving references to your dogs, Sam was above all, a good dog.

You have my deepest sympathies.  I can only assume Sam succumbed to cancer, as have several of the goldies in my life and way too many others:

"To those who have cherished an affection for a faithful and sagacious dog, I need hardly be at the trouble of explaining the nature or the intensity of the gratification thus derivable. There is something in the unselfish and self-sacrificing love of a brute, which goes directly to the heart of him who has had frequent occasion to test the paltry friendship and gossamer fidelity of mere Man.”

He was a beautiful dog.

So very sorry for your loss.

I have nothing useful to add, but please count me among the sorrowing.

Steve,

I am sorry to read of your loss.  My sympathies to you, as as long as I have read your blog it has been obvious that Sam meant a lot to you.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your old friend Sam.  I hope it was relatively quick and painless for him.  I know it won’t be for you.

Ditto Larry Sheldon’s comment above.

I’m very sorry to hear about the loss of Sam.  My condolences to you and your family.  Especially Toby.  I’ve seen how hard it is on a dog when a companion is gone.  They know everything, these wonderful creatures.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss.

As much as I disagree with you about most things (although not about wine, food, Iraq or UCLA), I always respected you and realized that as a fellow dog person, your heart is in the right place. My deepest condolences for your loss; it never gets easier because they mean so much to us due to their selflessness and unconditional love.

My condolences, professor.

Thanks for sharing those photos. She was beautiful.

I am very sorry fot the loss of a family member.  As the owner of a 12 year old golden, and a 10 year old lab, I find myself thinking about those things.  I am sure I’ll also take some time off.

Sam looked so much like the dog I grew up with, Nero.  Your pics brought back many happy memories, but also how terrible it was to lose him.  You have my deepest sympathies.
